(I do not own that RIG any more but I kept the information for IC-275 owners)
The IC-275 was sold from 1987-1993. There are different versions: the “A” and the “E” with 25w and the “H” and the “D” (sold only in Japan) with 100w. The ‘H’ model is 12-volt only at 20 amps. Receiver goes up to 173 MHz. Pictured is the ‘late’ model 275, the early model had an IF shift where the ‘data level’ pot is on the front panel. I understand that the IF shift was removed as the result of a patent lawsuit.You will not find another 2-meter all mode that can match an IC-275H for transmitter punch and receiver quality. They are very hard to find nowerdays on the market – if you can find one in mint conditions BUY IT ! Price: between 450€ to 500€ you probably will get one. The last I saw at EBAY in September 2011 has been sold for 590€.

Replacement of the DIAL + S-Meter lights :
You need to detach the front panel from the radio including unplugging all the connectors and then remove the tin shielding cover, from there the lamps are accessed from the rear of the board. The lamps are 12v,60mA, 3mm – 1/8″. ICOM original part number is: HRS-7219A-Y2 30 Lamp .
Please note: removing the front panel is no fun. If you are no electronics technician better don’t do it your self

Reichelt electronics has some but I did not tried LINK or maybe that one LINK . I heard it is also possible to replace the lights with white LED’s but the angle of the LED’s light must be more than 100 °. You may try a SMD-LED 0r better a SMD power LED.
IC-275 + HEIL headset
If you want to use a HEIL headset with your IC-275 you have to use the ProSetPlus-IC”. The new Heil ProSetElite-IC works super good with the 275 and gives enough NF power to the RIG . With other headsets or computer headsets you need a special in line Nf-preamp like the HEIL “HMP”.

The Icom IC-820H 2M/440 all-mode transceiver was built with state-of-the-art construction. Output level High on VHF 144-148 MHz is 6-35W SSB, 6-45W FM/CW. Output on UHF 430-450 MHz is 6-30W SSB, 6-40W FM/CW. The Icom IC-821H 2M/440 all-mode transceiver was designed from the start for superior satellite and digital communications. Output power is continuously adjustable. Output on VHF 144-148 MHz is 6-35W SSB, 6-45W FM/CW. Output on UHF 430-450 MHz is 6-30W SSB, 6-40W FM/CW. Sub Band Receive and Sub Band Transmit are both featured.
