About DK5EW

My name is Erwin Witt, born 1962 and I’m radio amateur since 1980. The Home-QTH is a very small village    Vilsingen in JN48nb which is located near Sigmaringen – about 40 km north of the lake of Konstanz in the southern part of Germany. I started in the early 70′s as a teen with building some easy electronic circuits. That was bringing me to amateur radio. First I   “tried” CB in 1979 but not for long. 6 months later I made my amateur radio licence with the callsign DG3GAG. At 18. June 2005 I got my new call “DK5EW“. Through the years I was testing the different possibilities of amateur radio. First I made simply repeater broadcast but that was not the big thing. Next step was SSTV. It was nice……….one day I had enough  pictures, :-D   Then in the 80′s satellite broadcast was very interesting. The AO-10 gave me some nice contacts all over the world. Today I’m exclusive QRV on 2m/6m hunting for middle fields. You can catch me over Tropo/Sporadic E/Meteorscatter/EME/Aurora. I am also a member of the  DA0Y – contestgroup  and as well a team member of MakeMoreMiles on VHF responsible for the beacon project and the MS SPRINT contest. I’m married and have 2 kids – a daughter Luisa Antonia and a son Paul Lorenz.  I’m a electronics engineer working in service for environmental test systems.

Here are some of my QSL cards I had over the years

You can request any time a eQSL like the example below by email if you like to

Sometimes I take part at the local 2m “Baden Württemberg Aktivität” contest. There I made in 2010 + 2011 the 2.place in the 144MHZ section.

Below are some pictures around my area.
